After reading the article I can say that I somewhat agree with what it was saying. It is proven that boys and girls learn at a different rate and through different measures. Therefore, having some single-sexed classes might be beneficial so that the teachers can focus on one certain type of learning and be specific rather than general. However, long term I do not think that the children should be segregated like that. It is good to be able to learn and develop in different situations and environments. Limiting students to single-sexed classrooms, especially while the students are still developing, would thus limit them in the future. In the future, there are no single-sexed jobs or single-sexed places. Students need to develop with other students with different learning techniques to further their own learning and abilities. Being in a single-sexed classroom all your life, could teach you to be single minded as well. Being in an environment where everyone is more like yourself can close you to opposing views. However being in a classroom where you are open to others and the other ways to develop could help you in the future. Maybe there are cases where it is easier for a girl to learn in a way that is ‘usually’ easier for a boy to learn. Being in a classroom that does not offer the option could hinder your mind. In the future boys and girls will have to work together and be around each other, AND think together. There is no avoiding that. Not to get me wrong, I agree that separating the genders could prove some benefits because of the way and the difference both boys' brains and girls' brains develop. On the other hand, limiting themselves at a young age for all classes can be damaging in the long run.
